If you are struggling with dental damage or decay, we can place a same-day CEREC crown to rebuild your smile. A dental crown covers the entire tooth, improving its appearance and strengthening your bite. At Parkway Dental in Albuquerque, NM, Dr. Michael D. Haight and Dr. Rebecca Case incorporate state-of-the-art CEREC technology into treatment to provide the most effective and convenient services. This system enables us to design and fabricate your custom crown in one office visit. In addition, our restorations are crafted out of durable, medical-grade porcelain, which is color-matched to blend seamlessly with your smile.
A dental crown is a "cap," designed to cover the entire visible portion of a tooth. This restoration can strengthen a tooth weakened by dental damage or decay, restoring full form and function to your smile.
During your consultation, Dr. Haight or Dr. Case can evaluate the structure of your smile and assess your oral health to determine if you are a candidate for treatment. If you qualify for a same-day crown, we can begin by numbing the tooth and gums for your comfort. We can then remove all compromised tissue, before reshaping the tooth. This process ensures your crown will fit correctly in your smile, without causing malocclusion.
At Parkway Dental, we incorporate state-of-the-art CEREC technology into our treatments to provide the most effective and convenient services.
We can then take digital impressions using CEREC technology, which will be used to design your crown. Unlike traditional manual impressions, which require a messy and often uncomfortable dental putty, digital impressions are fast and convenient. Once your scans are complete, we can upload them directly onto a computer screen. We can also carefully select the shade of your restoration to match the sheen and translucency of adjacent teeth.
Once we are satisfied with the design, we can send the information to our on-site milling machine. Over the next one to two hours, this unit can precisely manufacture your custom crown from a solid block of medical-grade porcelain. After your crown is complete, we can ensure it fits properly in your bite. If no adjustments are needed, we can secure your crown in place with dental cement, revealing your new, enhanced smile.
Traditionally, dental crowns were fabricated in a laboratory. Often, this process took two or more weeks to complete. In the interim, dentists typically provided patients with a temporary dental crown for added comfort. At Parkway Dental, our CEREC system combines computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) to fabricate restorations in a single appointment. CEREC technology eliminates the need for a temporary crown and delivers more precise results.
At Parkway Dental, our goal is to help patients achieve and maintain optimal oral health. To ensure you feel confident in our services, our team can guide you through all steps of your treatment plan and answer any questions you may have during your initial consultation.
